It’s long been acknowledged that certain types of girls like certain types of guys – bad ones. They can’t help themselves. They find them sexier. But while it’s not easy to explain why, it seems it’s a fact of life and one that the likes of the rebellious Colin Farrell or the wild Tommy Lee exemplify. These bad guys have no trouble getting the girl or lots of girls.

There’s a school of thought that says that women have an innate need to tame their wild guys. But surely that would defeat the object. There is perhaps a certain kudos attached to having a rock-star style lover all your own. Maybe it does say something about the girl who manages to keep him. Is this bad guy-good girl thing all about empowerment then? It’s worth pondering.

Undeniably there is just something about wild men. But what really makes girls go crazy is the bad guy when he’s being nice. The nice guy is nice all the time. He is nice 24/7. He’s probably even nice in his sleep, bless his little heart. But his acts of sweetness are somehow diluted, because they are the norm, they’re expected. He’s a nice guy right, there’s nothing odd about him bringing you flowers or breakfast in bed. When the bad guy does something soft and sensitive it has seriously high impact.

So, is the man of your dreams a nightmare? Is he demon or darling, or a bit of both? Is he hell or heaven or that indefinably attractive mix of the two?
